Rodent-proofing for Prescott homes

Rodent exclusion in Prescott, AZ

Trapping removes the rodents you have. Exclusion stops the next ones. We find every gap mice and rats use and seal it with materials they can’t chew through.

Why rodents keep getting back in

A house mouse can squeeze through a gap about the size of a dime, and a rat through one about the size of a quarter. Most homes have plenty of openings like that, and a trap-only service leaves every one of them open.

Seal the gaps and the problem stops coming back. That is what exclusion does.

Where we find entry points most often

  • Gaps around pipes, AC lines and utility penetrations
  • Garage door corners and worn weather seals
  • Foundation vents and crawl space access doors
  • Roof vents, soffit gaps and roof-to-wall joints
  • Chimneys and gaps around fireplace chases
  • Dryer vents, siding gaps and weep holes

Materials that hold up to Prescott winters

Rodents chew straight through spray foam, plastic and caulk used on its own. We use materials they can’t chew through, fitted to last through freezing nights and summer heat.

Galvanized mesh and hardware cloth

Used for vents, crawl space openings and larger gaps. It resists rust and keeps its shape, so rodents can’t push or chew through it.

Metal flashing and kick plates

Covers gnawed door corners, gaps at the roofline and places where siding meets the foundation. On larger buildings, the same approach is part of our warehouse and storage rodent control.

Exterior-grade sealant over metal

Seals small cracks and holds the metal in place. On its own it would be chewed through; backed by metal, it lasts through freeze-thaw cycles.

How exclusion works

Inspect

We walk the outside of your home, the attic, garage and crawl space, and mark every opening a rodent could use.

Seal

We close each entry point with metal-backed materials, starting with the ones showing the most activity.

Remove

We trap the rodents already inside at the same time, so nothing is left sealed in your walls.

Confirm

We come back to check traps and look for new activity until your home is clear.

Rodent exclusion questions

Don’t see your question? Call and ask. We’re happy to talk it through.

It depends on the size of the home and how many entry points need sealing. A few gaps around a garage costs far less than sealing a whole house with a crawl space. We inspect for free and give you a written price before any work starts.

Many homes can be sealed in a single visit. Larger homes, crawl spaces or roofline work can take longer. We give you a time estimate with your quote.

Not if it is done right. We trap the rodents already inside while we seal, and keep checking traps on follow-up visits until activity stops.

They work as a short-term fix at best. Steel wool rusts and packs down, and rodents chew through foam. Hardware cloth, metal and sealant last far longer.

Yes. The same approach keeps pack rats out of garages, sheds and crawl spaces, combined with clearing their nests.
